Author Guidelines

International Journal of Environmental, Social and Economic Sustaiability (IJESES) is not a profit organization and scholarly, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal disseminating cutting-edge research in digitalization. As IJESES continues to evolve and impact numerous fields, IJESES is an important platform for researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to present their latest findings, theories, methodologies, and applications in  IJESES. The journal aims to promote innovation, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and support responsible and ethical development of Digitalization technologies.

1. , IJESES publishes four main types of contributions: Original Researches, Technical Notes, Case Studies and Review Articles 

Detailed information about these four article types is provided in the lower sections of this page, following the Author Guidelines.

Both article types follow the same manuscript template and formatting requirements. Authors are kindly requested to use the official templates provided below when preparing their submissions.

Language

IJESES accepts manuscripts only in English. All elements of the submission—title, abstract, main text, figures, tables, captions, and supplementary materials—must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. Manuscripts submitted in other languages will not be considered for review.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the linguistic accuracy and readability of their manuscripts before submission. Please:

• Carefully proofread for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style consistency.
• Ensure terminology is precise and used consistently throughout the paper.
• Verify that figures, tables, and captions are clear, self-contained, and written in correct English.
• Consider professional English-language editing if needed.
• Confirm that the manuscript adheres to the journal’s formatting and referencing guidelines.

Submissions that do not meet this language standards may be returned to authors for revision prior to peer review.

 

Article Style

Authors must strictly follow the guide for authors, or their articles may be rejected without review. Editors reserve the right to adjust the style to certain standards of uniformity. Follow Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Theory/Calculation, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, References order when typing articles. The corresponding author should be identified with an asterisk and footnote. Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article and do not include them on the title page, as a footnote to the title or otherwise.

 Abstract and Keywords:

Enter an abstract of up to 250 words for all articles. This is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions, and is understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. It should contain no citation to other published work. Include up to seven keywords that describe your paper for indexing purposes.

Graphical Abstract:

Authors are encouraged to submit a Graphical Abstract summarizing the key findings of their article.

Requirements:

• Size: 560 × 1100 pixels
• Format: JPEG or PNG
• Font: Clear, sans-serif (Arial/Helvetica)
• Content: Concise and visually descriptive (no equations or dense text).

The graphical abstract should be uploaded as a supplementary file during submission.

Abbreviations and Acronyms:

Define abbreviations and acronyms the first time they are used in the text, even if they have been defined in the abstract. Abbreviations such as IEEE, SI, MKS, CGS, ac, dc, and rms do not have to be defined. Do not use abbreviations in the title unless they are unavoidable.

Text Layout for Peer Review:

Use single column layout, double-spacing and wide (3 cm) margins on white paper at the peer review stage. Ensure that each new paragraph is clearly indicated. Present tables and figure legends in the text where they are related and cited. Number all pages consecutively; use 12 pt font size and standard fonts; Times New Roman, Helvetica, or Courier is preferred.

Research Papers should not exceed 12 printed pages* in two-column publishing format, including figures and tables.

Technical Notes, Letters and Case Studies should not exceed 2,000 words.

Review Papers should not exceed 20 printed pages* in two-column publishing format, including figures and tables.

* If the number of pages exceeds the above-mentioned limits, author should get the permission from the Editor-in-Chief.

Equations:

Number equations consecutively with equation numbers in parentheses flush with the right margin, as in (1). To make equations more compact, you may use the solidus ( / ), the exp function, or appropriate exponents. Italicize Roman symbols for quantities and variables, but not Greek symbols. Use a dash (–) rather than a hyphen for a minus sign. Use parentheses to avoid ambiguities in denominators. Punctuate equations with commas or periods when they are part of a sentence, as in

Symbols in your equation should be defined before the equation appears or immediately following. Use “Eq. (1)” or “equation (1),” while citing.

Figures and Tables:

All illustrations must be supplied at the correct resolution:

    * Black and white and color photos - 300 dpi

    * Graphs, drawings, etc. - 800 dpi preferred; 600 dpi minimum

    * Combinations of photos and drawings (black and white and color) - 500 dpi

Table captions should be written in the same format as figure captions; for example, “Table 1. Appearance styles”. Tables should be referenced in the text unabbreviated as “Table 1.”

Author Contributions:
(Please specify each author’s role, e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft, Supervision, etc.)
Sample: A.B. conceptualized and supervised the study; C.D. performed the data analysis; E.F. drafted the manuscript; all authors reviewed and approved the final version.

Acknowledgements:
Authors may acknowledge to any person, institution or department that supported to any part of study. If none, state “Not applicable.”

Conflict of Interest:
(Declare any potential conflicts. If none, state “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”)

References:

Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice-versa).

Any references cited in the abstract must be given in full. Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list but may be mentioned in the text.

Citation of a reference as “in press” implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

Number citations consecutively in square brackets [1]. Punctuation follows the bracket [2]. Refer simply to the reference number, as in [3]. Use “Ref. [3]” or Reference [3]” at the beginning of a sentence:  “Reference [3] was …”.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, the use of “et al.” is NOT permitted. All authors’ names must be listed in full in the reference entries (e.g., F. Author, S. Author, T. Author, F. Author, etc.).

For papers published in translated journals, first give the English citation, then the original foreign-language citation.

Text Layout for Accepted Papers:

A4 page margins should be margins: top = 24 mm, bottom = 24 mm, side = 15 mm. Main text should be given in two columns. The column width is 87mm (3.425 in). The space between the two columns is 6 mm (0.236 in). Paragraph indentation is 3.5 mm (0.137 in). Follow the type sizes specified in Table. Positions of figures and tables at the tops and bottoms of columns. Avoid placing them in the middle of columns. Large figures and tables may span across both columns.  Figure captions should be centered below the figures; table captions should be centered above.  Avoid placing figures and tables before their first mention in the text.  Use the abbreviation “Fig. 1,” even at the beginning of a sentence.

Submission Preparation Checklist

It is hoped that this list will be useful during the final checking of an article prior to sending it to the journal's Editor for review. Please consult this Guide for Authors for further details of any item. Ensure that the following items are present:

• This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
• Following information are given for all authors:
   • E-mail address
   • Affiliation
• One author designated as the corresponding author:
   • E-mail address
   • Full postal address
• All necessary files, including the full text of the paper and graphical abstract, have been provided.
• Keywords: Minimum 3 and maximum 5 keywords are given.
• All figures and captions are included within the main text.
• All tables, including title, description, and footnotes, are supplied within the main text.

Further considerations

• Manuscript has been spell-checked and grammar-checked.
• References are in the correct format for this journal.
• All references mentioned in the reference list are cited in the text, and vice versa.
• Permission has been obtained for the use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the web).
• Color figures are clearly marked as being intended for color reproduction on the web (free of charge) and in print, or for color on the web and black-and-white in print.
• All submissions must meet the following requirements:
   • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
   • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
   • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
   • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets, and other material provided with this submission.
• Author Contributions have been clearly stated, specifying each author’s role (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft, Supervision, etc.).

RESEARCH, TECHNICAL NOTE and CASE STUDY ARTICLES

Research Articles present original, high-quality, and well-structured research that makes a significant contribution to the field of Digitalization. Submissions should clearly state the research problem, methodology, results, and implications. Manuscripts are expected to be novel, technically sound, and supported by sufficient experimental or theoretical validation. All Research Articles undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure scientific quality and relevance.

REVIEW ARTICLES

Review Articles provide a comprehensive and critical overview of a specific topic in Artificial Intelligence and related fields. Submissions should summarize, synthesize, and analyze recent developments, identify research gaps, and highlight future directions. Well-structured and balanced coverage is expected, making the article a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners. Review Articles are subject to peer review to ensure clarity, depth, and accuracy.

Copyright Notice

The undersigned hereby transfers the copyright of the submitted article to International Journal Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability (IJESES). The Author declares that the contribution and work is original, and he/she is authorized by all authors and/or grant-funding agency to sign the copyright form. Author hereby assigns all including but not limited to the rights to publish, distribute, reprints, translates, electronic and published derivates in various arrangements or any other versions in full or abridged forms to IJESES. IJESES holds the copyright of Article in its own name.

Author(s) retain all rights to use author copy in his/her educational activities, own websites, institutional and/or funders web sites by providing full citation to final version published in AIRA. The full citation is provided including Authors list, title of the article, volume and issue number, and page number or using a link to the article in IJESES web site. Author(s) have the right to transmit, print and share the first submitted copies with colleagues. Licensing

All articles published in the Artificial Intelligence Research and Applications, IJESES,  are licensed under an open access Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, meaning that anyone may download and read the paper for free. In addition, the article may be reused and quoted provided that the original published version is cited. These conditions allow for maximum use and exposure of the work, while ensuring that the authors receive proper credit.

In exceptional circumstances articles may be licensed differently. If you have specific condition (such as one linked to funding) that does not allow this license, please mention this to the editorial office of the journal at submission. Exceptions will be granted at the discretion of the publisher.

Reproducing Published Material from other Publishers

It is absolutely essential that authors obtain permission to reproduce any published material (figures, schemes, tables or any extract of a text) which does not fall into the public domain, or for which they do not hold the copyright. Permission should be requested by the authors from the copyright holder (usually the Publisher, please refer to the imprint of the individual publications to identify the copyright holder).

Permission is required for:

1. Your own works published by other Publishers and for which you did not retain copyright.
2. Substantial extracts from anyone's works or a series of works.
3. Use of Tables, Graphs, Charts, Schemes and Artworks if they are unaltered or slightly modified.
4. Photographs for which you do not hold copyright.

Permission is not required for:

1. Reconstruction of your own table with data already published elsewhere. Please notice that in this case you must cite the source of the data in the form of either "Data from..." or "Adapted from...".
2. Reasonably short quotes are considered fair use and therefore do not require permission.
3. Graphs, Charts, Schemes, and Artworks that are completely redrawn by the authors and significantly changed beyond recognition do not require permission.

Obtaining Permission

In order to avoid unnecessary delays in the publication process, you should start obtaining permissions as early as possible. If in any doubt about the copyright, apply for permission. AIRA cannot publish material from other publications without permission.

The copyright holder may give you instructions on the form of acknowledgment to be followed; otherwise, follow the style: "Reproduced with permission from [author], [book/journal title]; published by [publisher], [year].' at the end of the caption of the Table, Figure or Scheme.
